RTTY Caravan Operating Vintage Military

Bob G8KZO

The following pictures are not in order but show some of my interests.

The jeep was purchased in 2000 and is a 1942 ford GPW in June 2004

A friend and I drove it to France for the 60th anniversary of D-day as you can see it was very hot.

The German radar was part of a radar museum.

The trip included a visit to Pointe du Hoc, Pegasus Bridge, and a massive re-enactors camp.

The French army had a big presence as can be seen by the radio equipment they were using on the hill next to Pointe du Hoc.

The 19 sets are part of my small collection of WW2 radio equipment.

I hope to operate the Canadian 19 set at our local military vehicle club from the 1944 tent pictured.

Other items pictured are of home construction and vintage components used in a recent Fareham radio club talk.

Finally at the time the RAF stopwatch was a mystery why is it calibrated 360 degrees? The answer among other things it’s possible to use it as a rate of turn indicator.
